Sweet dreams are made of this...

misc yay
Oh you guys...I couldn't wait to get home and post about the dream I had this morning.  So, SO sweet.

Prior to the good stuff my sleeping brain regaled me with various random weirdness involving a black lab and a big brown dog named Bear, both of whom were totally trampling the inside of an unknown house, and another scene where I was hiding under a long table in close proximity to a rather hefty and very amorous couple.  None of this had anything to do with what transpired next.

Enter the fun part: I was sitting on a bench in some sort of industrial shop type of setting, and to my left was Coco.  He was wearing mechanic's clothes (this probably came from an article I read about him where he was interviewed wearing same) and assembling some contraption with a lot of colored wires.  I think I asked him if he needed any help, but other than that I'm drawing a blank on dialogue.  Maybe there wasn't any.  There didn't need to be, given that the next thing I knew, he was perched in front of me, sitting on the very edge of the bench.  At that point I very gently and delicately leaned forward and kissed the back of his head, and just as gently and delicately (yet at the same time firmly) hugged him from behind.  That's it.  So simple and sweet and really quite innocent.  And then I woke up...with a big smile on my face.  And for the rest of the day, every time I started stressing about anything at work, I just reminded myself of that dream.  I think it's going to keep me going for awhile.   :::happy sigh:::

On a totally different subject, last night my cousin Danielle from New York called me.  She's the one who's a diehard NYY fan and hates the Sox with a passion, although she allows as how she can stomach Papi (how could anyone not?).  She said she figured she could reach me because it was a non-baseball night, and she started waxing eloquent about how HAPPY she was that the Rays won, and how pissed she was during Game 5, blah blah blah.  Now see, for the past year I've been taking pains to conceal my fence jump from her because I was afraid she would hate me, so I just let her go on about the ALCS, but finally my own passion got the best of me and I had to speak my piece.  So I told her, y'all.  I told her how I fell for the Red Sox during the 2007 ALCS and spent the winter educating myself about all things Sox, dove right into it as soon as spring training started, and haven't looked back.  I told her that I followed pretty much every single game this season, which actually I never did with the Yankees.  I never felt like getting that deep with it before, but this year I couldn't get enough.  She already knew about the gameday threads and me hanging out on LJ with a bunch of baseball bloggers, but until last night she didn't know that most of it is Red Sox oriented.

So I told her.  I apologized, too.  This is a cousin who I'm very close to even though she's young enough to be my daughter (had I been a teenage mother), and I didn't want her to hate me.  Turns out she's disappointed, but she said she would never hate me over it.  :::whew:::  And then we went on and talked about any number of other stuff, and all was forgiven without there even being a problem -- except for the moment before I worked up the courage to TELL her...I first allowed as how I liked the Sox and was sorry to see them lose, and she yelled, "Then you're not a Yankees fan!"  Gee, no shit Sherlock!  LOL...

So that's the report from this end.  Hope all is well with all of you.

And now...a late dinner.

Aww, sweet dream. Although the other parts (dogs and couple) are kind of hilariously unrelated. I love dreams like that--they make no sense whatsoever.

Hooray for family peace? I have cousins who are Yankees fans and Mets fans and Tigers fans, as well as one adorable little Sox fan, who's decided to follow them because of his big cousins in Boston. (He's awesome.)

Yeah, it was really precious. We all should have moments like that in our dreams.

I love the random dreams too, just craziness all strung together. Many years ago an acquaintance of mine had a huge brown dog named Bear, so that part made sense. Otherwise, it all made me scratch my head.

I've got both Yankees and Mets fans in my family, don't know about any others among my far-flung cousins. As for family peace, in retrospect I should have known that Danielle wouldn't freak out, seeing as how she attends Sox/Yankees games with some friends who are Sox fans.

I never remember my dreams. When I do, they're usually just weird--one time I had a dream about a chocolate donut threatening to eat me, for example.

Of course she wouldn't freak out! As awesome and wonderful (and consuming) as baseball is, it is just baseball.

I actually don't remember many of my dreams, so I'm pretty excited when I do, especially if they're interesting.

A chocolate donut threatening to eat you. I wonder what corner of your mind came up with that oddity?

I know it's just (awesome, wonderful, consuming) baseball, but to quote our mutual cousin Andre', "Danielle takes The Rivalry waaaay too seriously." That's why I was worried about incurring her wrath. :::is relieved:::

I never have cool dreams like that. :(

And I'm the only Yankees fan in my family despite the presence of the Cuz--everyone else is a Mets fan.

Tell ya what -- here's something I found the other night that you may enjoy, and perhaps it'll even inspire a dream:

I think I'm the only Red Sox fan in my entire family, so I guess we're even!

LOL, I forgot I already had that picture! That was taken at Barry Zito's Strikeouts for Troops 2006 Xmas party (if the Santa hats weren't a clue). They make a cute couple, don't they?

I figured it was a Christmas party but didn't know if it was something official. Very cute. Where are our slash writers when we need them?

Aww! Yay happy Sox dreams! Mine range from random ones where I'm attracted to players I'm really not (like one where I was in high school trying to get my friend Josh to ask me to the dance), to extremely adult, to totally random and fun (the one where I randomly dreamed Justin Masterson with hair), to random and sad (one where Coco got traded back to Cleveland), to slashy, and sometimes combinations of a few.

And sometimes I write really long run-on sentences.

Haha...I have to work at breaking up my thoughts into sentences.

Gee, that icon looks familiar! ;D

And what did Justin look like with hair? He's got such a lovely face. I imagine he would look really great with hair.

I don't remember a lot of my dreams, so when I do, they stick in my head. I haven't had a lot of baseball dreams, though (sad face). I did have another one about Coco a few months. It was a bit suggestive and I found myself scratching my head because I couldn't figure out where that came from. In retrospect, my subconscious was probably trying to tell me something...

:D

Justin had kinda dark hair and, like, a bowl cut. He was still cute, but I thought he was cuter bald. That was such a wierd dream...

You wouldn't know it now, but at the beginning of the season I hated Kevin Cash. So much. But around Father's Day I started to like him and dream about him and then I completely fell in love that game where he got the IBB and HR against the Dbacks. So I've had the subconcious thing, too. I eventually pinpointed the exact reason I started liking him: upon repeat viewing of the video I firmly believe he was kicking some Devil Ray ass during the Crisp-Shields incident. And I really really like catchers who get involved in brawls.

Isn't it funny how our feelings about these guys shift over time, and how they creep up on us? And even funnier how our subconscious speaks to us about them when we least expect it?

I'd have to go back and look at the video, but if Cashie was kicking some TB butt during the brawl, he definitely gets brownie points from me. That whole thing was scary. Sure, it was bad form for Coco to charge the mound, but to get piled on by FOUR of those guys the way he did? He's damn lucky he didn't end up in the hospital.

I forget how far in it is, but there's one point after the brawl is mostly over where you can see Cashie being helped up by someone. You can't see what he was doing, but he was either kicking ass or getting his kicked. I like to think he was showing Tampa what he thought about them getting him stuck in AAA for a season. And he did get tossed for "agressive action" last season in a little scuffle with the O's. So I should have known he had it in him.

Coco was SOOOO lucky. Those were big guys. I wouldn't want to get beat on by one, let alone four. Ouch.

nice dream
I could use a good dream. Dreams are usually my escape from my life. I haven't figured out what to do without the Sox. Life is rather boring. Is it February 10th yet?
