Hey all, it's been a minute, I know. I'm still treading water with my new and improved (?) schedule and simply haven't had time to post since the weekend. Actually, I STILL don't have time but thought I'd drive by on my way to bed with an update.
2. The Thursday class, I'm not loving so much. The setting is VERY pleasant...a bit out in the country, in a cozy private home, and the people are pretty friendly, so that part I like. As for the rest of it, we're basically studying relationship psychology with a strong new age slant, and the other participants generally seem to be a lot more familiar with that whole mode of thought than I am, and even though this is the beginner class, it feels way over my head. Some of the philosophies and ways of relating that we're discussing really go against the grain for me. They're interesting to learn about, but I don't really have a strong desire to actually relate to people in those ways. I have a feeling that unless one tried these techniques with someone who studies new age "conscious" sorts of things, the reaction would likely be "WTF?" Anyway...I feel like a fish out of water, and I'm really questioning whether I want to keep going with it after the initial four-week session is done. It just doesn't feel like a good fit.
3. My ankle is acting up AGAIN and has been doing so for several days. I've been babying it and trying to nurse it along in hopes that I just have some sort of muscle tweak, and have put off going to the doctor because it's not THAT painful, and besides, at our medical practice they do something called "evidence-based medicine." In other words, if they don't SEE actual evidence that something's really wrong, they tend to give reassurance and tell the patient to "watch and wait." So I knew I'd better really have something to show them before I went downstairs begging for antibiotics...and now that I'm starting to see some swelling and redness, I guess I'll be calling for an appointment in the morning. :::sigh:::
4. Happy Belated Spring Training! I'm getting back into the swing of things with making the rounds of the Sox-related media on a daily basis, and especially checking the Globe, Herald, Projo, etc., for bright and shiny new pictures of my boys (so far so good). I'm just so glad to see them! Happy, happy, HAPPY!
Okay, that's enough blathering for now. Time to go prop the stupid crankle.

Hee hee, new agey stuff is not my cup of tea either.
Dang, I hope you can find a crankle cure that sticks. That's awful that it keeps returning to bother you.
Only a week till the O's first exhibition game! Whee!
I think I would benefit more from the "new age relationship skills" class if I already had a support system and/or network of friends in place. I've been a little more "radically honest" (one of the concepts in the class) with a couple of my family members since the class began. In one case this was fine (someone who is on my wavelength), and in the other I got an "I don't know what you're talking about" message. I certainly can't practice on the folks at work. It would be a disaster waiting to happen. So I'm sort of in a quandary, but mostly I'm starting to look for another group to get involved in, maybe after the Monday class ends, because two classes at once is wiping me out and, as mentioned above, I don't think this one is a good fit.
About the crankle...see tonight's journal entry.
Exhibition games FTW! Are you doing the MLB.tv preseason package so you can watch them?
Ah, I see. Yeah, if what they're teaching can't be applied to your life right now, then it doesn't sound like a good fit. And it's great to hear that you know your limits as to 2 classes a week being too much right now. Yay for self-respect! I hope one of the other options in you area fits you better.
Dang, more unknowns. I'll keep optimistic thoughts in mind for you.
I've never done it before, but I keep thinking about it. Do you have any opinions about MLB.tv?
The ankle seems to be responding to the antibiotics. I did use that foot on the transcriber pedal for awhile at work today and it's complaining ever so slightly, but nothing that even requires an extra Tylenol.
MLB.tv is wonderful! I had the audio only for part of last season and then upgraded to the TV version for the last two months. I highly recommend it. The only problem in your case is that your teams (O's and Nats) may be "in market" for your location, which means the video will be blacked out for live games, but you can listen to them and then watch the archived games. Of course, hopefully your local cable provider shows some of those games anyway.
Ah, more good news. I'm glad you're mending.
Yeah, my teams would be blacked out, but you still make it sound quite good. I'll keep mulling it over.
