Just wondering.

  • Jul. 16th, 2009 at 10:49 AM
dice hmmm...
This question is for anyone who has ever sent fan mail.  If I send fan mail to a ballplayer, how long do you think it takes until they actually receive it?  I'm discounting mail transit time from here to the home office.  How long does it take from that point until it reaches their hot little hands?

More later, as I haven't posted for a few days.  For now, I'm holding down my department solo today and had best get back to it.

sorry, dude, the only fanmail i've ever sent has been electronic (and always been replied to very quickly, i might add). can't remember ever doing a pen-and-paper fanletter, at least.

I had no earthly idea that one could send electronic fan mail. And here I've been taking great trouble in selecting JUST the right cards at the store and using up stamps, LOL!

heee! i don't know if ball teams have e-mail addresses like that, but i've e-mailed a few singers and such and gotten lovely responses. one time within about fifteen minutes, if you can believe it. it's a nice, easy way of doing things, for sure.

That's lovely, hearing from the musicians that quickly! A lot of my old music pals have their own websites where one can contact them directly, but offhand, I don't see anything similar on the MLB site. It's okay -- I'd rather know that my words of encouragement and praise are being delivered to them and only them even if it's via snail mail, but I do wish I knew the time frame involved, because sometimes time is of the essence, KWIM?

I've been wondering the same thing, actually--I'd like to send Sam Fuld a congrats on his first major league hit. (And I have the perfect card, too...)

Oh, I'm sure it would get to him eventually -- and with a perfect card, even (and I'm glad he got a hit, that's great!). At least he'll be accessible -- stuff can easily be sent back and forth between the majors and minors within an organization, I'm sure.

In my case, well...I'm just not sure that the encouragement card I sent to Julio at the end of June will get to him before this weekend, after which he'll probably be gone. I've sent cards (or will be) to several others guys in "not a rush" circumstances, but I was just worried about this one. Maybe the team forwards mail to departed players, I dunno.
