No sooner did I get my kitchen counter all rearranged than my "new" microwave (about a year old) decided to go on the fritz. It had been a little bit iffy for awhile, but all the buttons quit working. I was just settling into "life without microwave" when several buttons sprang back to life, so for the moment I have a reprieve on the arduous and expensive task of buying a higher quality (and more expensive) microwave.
I went on my twice monthly bagel run this morning and discovered that my regular bagel shop is gone as gone can be. Can't say as I'm surprised. It was once a terrific New York style place run by real New Yorkers, then they retired, selling it to a guy who was oh-so-enlightened-and-conscious and remodeled with that in mind, removing all the NY sports memorabilia, the NYC-related photos and posters...and replacing them with all New Age all the time. Now, I don't have anything against New Age, mind you, but in a bagel shop? Uh-uh. And he was rude to his workers AND the customers. Matter of fact, when I told one of the workers last time I was there that I found him a bit offputting, she said I wasn't the only one, and that a lot of people couldn't stand him. So...I think the demise of his business was his own fault, and I think I can live with Bruegger's, which has a better selection at the same prices, and having made a detour over there this morning...their product is decent.
I finally got an e-mail from my long-lost childhood friend whose recently deceased mother lived down the road apiece. She and her sister are cleaning out their mom's place this week and next, and she wants to get together for dinner. Can you say...YES? I'm waiting to hear back from her right now.
Finally, our last two games have been such a joy, despite my not feeling my best. Run support! Home runs! Great plays! Wins! What more could I ask for? MLBN has the game tonight, so I may watch it from the lounging position, the better to go right to sleep when it's over rather than getting distracted all over the Intrawebz.
Back to the medical stuff...
